Attached as the banner of the Portuguese Military History Committe (an organ of Ministry of Defence), a banner of its arms: Azure a winged serpent displayed Argent armed and tongued Gules holding an armillary sphere Or and charged on its breast with an ineschutcheon Azure five plates per saltire. Arms design probably by Lt.-Col. Pedroso da Silva.
